Alvaro Deprit
An Anatomy of Fear, 2024
‘An Anatomy of Fear’ examines the personal development of students and sheds light on the theme of existence between external fears in a turbulent time and internal conflicts such as shame and self-suppression. The parallel growth of students and their artworks is documented at an Italian art academy. Sculptures wrapped in plastic symbolize discomfort and point to emerging identities. Begun during the 2020 lockdown, the evolving sculptures reflect changing self-awareness and testify to growth and self-exploration. The project reveals the allure of suspended moments and interruptions in the creative process as profound revelations.
