Dream House, 2023–ongoing

‘Dream House’ is a series of large-format staged photographs. At first glance, the images appear to be regular photographs of houses. However, upon closer inspection, one begins to notice cracks in the sky and other physical impossibilities and realizes the house and the entire scene are not quite real.
These models of Houses aim to merge the digital and the physical. The artist prints textures from 3D-programs and then cuts and folds these prints to build the scenes. This represents an analog rendition of modeling and texturing on a computer.
The title, ‘Dream House’ further reflects the theme of real estate fantasy and escapism. As many people increasingly browse homes without the intent or means to purchase, they often retreat into these idealized visions to escape the uncertainties and stresses of contemporary life. This series captures the allure of these homes, highlighting their role as a form of temporary respite from reality.
