Spaceship-like electric vehicles, which represent a clean future, remain luxury items even in the midst of the long-awaited mobility transition.The global electric mobility trade converges in Grünheide near Berlin. Here, an inhuman architecture of enormous scale meets a local recreational area with lakes, forests, and canals.

I process my impressions and the dystopian feeling that overcame me while I was there in my work, which lies at the intersection of smartphone photography and AI-generated images. I interweave the factual with the fictional and classify the digital images as “computational photography,” a genre in which the boundary between a generated image and the raw sensor data from a digital camera becomes blurred.

Biografie

Jakob Nonnen, b. 1993 in Seeheim-Jugenheim (DE); lives and works in Munich (DE). Nonnen studied at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, where he received his diploma in Communication Design in 2021 for his project “hello world.” In 2025, he completed his master’s degree in Visual Strategies and Stories – Photography at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle under Stephanie Kiwitt with his thesis “Auto Fiktion.” He has been a graduate fellow there since late 2025.
